California Sun Salmon Sushi Bowl

My sister made me one of these yummy bowls during the start of quarantine and we’ve been hooked since! I made some more shortly after and added my own personal touches to it to add some more flavor. We love eating out on the balcony, on a nice sunny day which is why I named it “California Sun Salmon Sushi Bowl”! I loooove poke bowls but the thought of me working with raw fish scares me so this cooked salmon bowl recipe works perfect if you’re weird about raw fish too! This bowl is super easy to make, and it’s also healthy and refreshing so let’s get right to it!

My All Time Favorite Hair Products

My All Time Favorite Hair Products

There are sooo many haircare products out there, but it still took me a while to find products that checked all my boxes! I live for these products for many different reasons, they’re good for my hair, last all day, smell good and they help with hair growth and volumize like crazy! So let’s get right to it!

Unite 7SECONDS Shampoo, Conditioner and Detangler

All three of these bad boys helps moisturize and protects your hair from UV rays, thermal damage and color fading. The shampoo cleanses your hair without all the harsh chemicals and has key ingredients like ProVitamin B12 at adds volume and increases shine and potatoes that strengthens hair. The conditioner adds long-lasting shine, moisturizes your hair and products it as well with key ingredients like Argan seed, shea, and green tea extract. The detangler protects your hair from UV rays, thermal damage and color fading while also sealing the split ends and detangling your hair. I love these products because I saw a difference right away when I switched. My hair now looks so much healthier, is protected from heat and smells super yummy without any of those yucky harm chemicals.

IGK First Class Charcoal Detox Dry Shampoo

Okay I’ve tried a lot of dry shampoos in my day and this one is by far my FAVORITE! I use this baby between washes or sometimes even after workouts! The formula absorbs oil and sweat while also cooling and calming your scalp and strengthens your hair follicles. I love it because it has this cool cucumber-y spell so your hair small fresh and clean! It also does a great job volumizing my hair. I have really thick and heavy hair so when I find a product that can actually volumize it and lasts all day, I become obsessed! It’s also vegan, cruelty-free, and provides UV protection, and free of all harsh chemicals.

Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray

This dry shampoo is another one of my favorites because it doesn’t have a white tint to it like most dry shampoos do. This is an invisible dry shampoo that builds gorgeous volume and adds texture to your hair.. I love to use this one days where I don’t feel like using heat to style my hair. I wear my hair natural and add a few sprays of this baby to add some volume and texture. Another reason why love this spray is because it’s so versatile- you can use it to help control your oily hair or you can use it to style and volumize your clean hair and added some lift at the roots, without that white powdery residue. It also protects color with a multilayered UV protection system and smells really yummy too.

R and Co Dallas Thickening Spray

I don’t usually blow dry my hair, but when I do I love to use this thickening spray, trust me, it does wonders! It not only volumizes my hair like CRAZY but it also protects it from heat. The top of my hair always looks flat since my hair is so long and heavy and it does a great job adding volume at the roots. It provides a ton of body to your hair while also making it smooth and silky without stiffness. It’s vegan and cruelty free and has key ingredients like: Aloe Leaf Extract that seals in moisture and smoothes the hair; Ginger Root Extract that protects and conditions hair; Pro-Vitamin B5 that conditions and thickens; and Amino Acid Complex, that delivers thermal protection and mimics hair’s natural protein structure. Like the rest of the products I listed, this one also smells good too! It smells like hairspray at first but afterwords it smells like citrus and lavender.

These are the only hair products I use religiously! I’ll go over some other of my other favorites that I use every other week or so like hair masks and hairsprays when I travel to humid areas. What are your go-to hair products? List them below! 🙂

How to Get Longer Hair Fast!

How to Get Longer Hair Fast!

I always get asked how I get my hair so long so here are some things I do to get my hair longer fast. The number one tip is to not wash your hair everyday. This is seriously a game changer! I know you’re probably scared that your hair will get greasy/oily but over time your hair will actually adjust to it! I usually only wash my hair a few times a week! I don’t need dry shampoo but love to use it to volumize my hair and make it smell good of course! Washing your hair too often isn’t the best for your hair for many reasons and your hair’s natural oils actually helps hydrate and repair your hair so throw on a shower cap and try starting off by only washing it every other day!

If you can, let your hair air dry instead of blow drying so you don’t damage it by the heat of the dryer. The next tip is to try to style your hair only a few times a week, I usually only style my hair twice a week and use heat protect stray. Heat protect stray is key, make sure you’re always using it when you plan to put any kind of heat on your hair. I also take hair, skin and nail gummies, they not only have important vitamins like biotin and C and B vitamins they also taste super yummy. Increasing your protein and omega-3 fatty acids intake will also help and drinking lots of water too! A lot of people say getting trims often will help too but to be honest (I hate to say this) I only get a hair cut twice a year and my hair is growing just fine and there aren’t that many split ends (probably since I don’t style it everyday)! Want to see what hair products will help you in this long hair journey? Stay tuned for tomorrows blog post! Got some tips of your own? Share them below! 🙂

My Go-To Salad: Persian Salad with a TWIST

My Go-To Salad: Persian Salad with a TWIST

I grew up eating this salad regularly and yet, I’m still not sick of it. It’s honestly my favorite salad for multiple reasons, it’s yummy, healthy, has great benefits, it’s refreshing and it reminds me of home. My sweet and adorable mom would make this for my sister and I all the time when we were youngsters. I left LA for the weekend to visit my friends and family in Reno and thought it would be fun to make this salad with my mom today and share it with you!

This is my first recipe blog post guys! When I make food, I usually just eyeball it… what can I say? I like to live life on the edge! Don’t worry though, I’m a pro eyeballer, it comes out yummy most of the time so you’re in good hands! I’ll be measuring things out from this point on and testing it out (of course) so you can give these recipes a go too so let’s get to it!

PERSIAN SALAD WITH A TWIST

Serves: Around 4-6 side dishes or 2 meals (makes about 4 cups ) I usually like to eat the salad as a meal for lunch instead of a side dish, but you do what ever you want and adjust it the ingredients to your liking too.

Prep time: 10 minutes

INGREDIENTS:

Salad:

  • 1 English cucumber or 4 small Persian cucumbers (I used 4 small Persian cucumbers from Trader Joes) , small diced
  • 3 medium sided tomatoes, (use your favorite tomato, I used Roma tomatoes today), small diced
  • Half a medium sized onion (use whatever onion you like such as red or yellow onions; I used yellow onions today), small diced
  • 2 regular sided avocados (this one’s optional and is my own personal twist to the salad since I love me some avocado!), small diced
  • 3 TBSP chopped cilantro

Dressing:

  • ¼ TSP salt
  • ¼ TSP black pepper
  • 3 TBSP squeezed lime juice (about one medium lime)
  • 2 TBSP olive oil

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Add the diced cucumbers, tomatoes, onion and avocado into a medium sized bowl.
  2. Add the chopped cilantro into the bowl
  3. In a smaller bowl mix the dressing ingredients together
  4. Drizzle on the dressing to the salad ingredients. Mix it all up so the dressing is evenly distributed and there you have it baby!

BENEFITS:

  • Cucumbers: are high in nutrients, contains antioxidants, promotes hydration, helps with weigh loss
  • Tomatoes: are a great source of vitamins, improves digestive health, boosts skin health, tomato with olive oil creates food synergy with boosts benefits!
  • Onions: are rich in antioxidants, support healthy digestion, onion with tomato also creates food synergy- the benefits of eating them together outweigh eating them separately.
  • Avocado: contain even more potassium than bananas, has heart-healthy monounsaturated fatty acids, loaded with fiber and antioxidants
  • Cilantro: helps with bloating, aids digestion, prevents nausea, lowers anxiety and improves sleep
  • Lime: good source of antioxidants, promotes healthy skin, increases iron absorption
  • Olive Oil: rich in healthy monounsaturated fats, contains a ton of antioxidants, can detoxify your body, soothe your stomach, and even aid  weight loss

BEST FOUNDATIONS OF ALL TIME

BEST FOUNDATIONS OF ALL TIME

When I was a teenager, I couldn’t wait to get older so I could stop breaking out. Totally thought it was a puberty thing and that I’d kiss my lovely blemishes goodbye. Nope, turns out my blemishes are almost worst now, HAH! But thank GOD for foundation baby! Let’s face it, some foundations just suck and can even make your skin look worse! It took me a while to find a foundation that I absolutely love. Some things that I look for in a foundation are: full coverage, lightweight, long day wear, and oil control! Keep on reading to see why you need to try my ride or die foundations. They are literally A M A Z I N G!

Tarte Double Duty Beauty Face Tape Foundation, $39

This foundation is one of my favorites! It has great coverage but doesn’t feel cakey or heavy like a lot of other full-coverage foundations so your skin can still breath! The coverage is so great that you don’t even need to use concealer to cover your imperfections. It also doesn’t exaggerate your pores or wrinkles like other foundations do. It’s really easy to apply and blend so you can take your sweet time blending it out baby! It has a beautiful matte finish but it doesn’t look dry or flaky so it’s perfect for anyone that has oily/dry skin. I use this foundation on days where I’m out and about all day since it’s long-lasting, transfer-proof, waterproof and sweat proof. There’s also beneficial ingredients that helps hydrate, moisturize, reduce inflammation, brighten, and firm your skin just to name a few! Bonus points: it has a pump so it’s quick, easy, and mess-proof and you’re able to use every last drop of the bottle! A little goes a long way too, I typically only use 1-2 pumps! The shade range is awesome by the way, there’s 50 beautiful shades for everyone. It’s vegan, cruelty free, and free of parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, triclosan, sodium lauryl sulfate and gluten. PS- Tarte always has killer sales so make sure to buy when they’re having a sale to save some moola. (I wear the shade “Light Neutral”)

Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Foundation, $43

Okay, they’re not lying when they say “Double Wear” & “Stay-in Place”. This foundation literally lasts alllll day! It has a matte finish and controls oil really well. But really, this foundation is hardcore, it offers 24-hour wear and trust me, it really does last 24- hours. It’s also waterproof and heat-resistant, sweat & humidity- resistant, and transfer-resistent, take my word for it.. Personally tested it in Vegas, Disneyland and traveling the world and it passed the test! Some application tips for this product is to make sure you use a hydrating primer and apply with a sponge. I say this because it’s difficult to blend seamlessly on drier skin so don’t skip the moisturizer and/primer. Applying with a sponge works best (for me anyway) because it looks a tad streaky when I apply with a foundation brush. The coverage on this bad boy is also incredible and it’s lightweight too. There’s 56 shades and they also have a cool device that color matches you, it’s crazy how accurate it is too! Find out why this is the #1 foundation in the US and give it a shot. Pro tip: try to purchase it when they have a gift with purchase promo! Macy’s, Nordstrom, Dillards and other department stores also offer promos like this. These free gifts usually include a cute makeup bag, eyeshadow, lipstick, makeup remover and more. (I wear the shade “Dawn”)

NARS Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation, $49

This is another amazing foundation and great for all skin typics, especially oily and dry skin. It has medium to full coverage, and a buildable formula while also being feather-light. They claim that the foundation lasts 16-hours while also being transfer-resistent, sweet-resitant and fade-resistant. I can back this up! I wore this foundation on my best friend’s wedding day and it lasted from 8am- 2am! That’s like what, 18 hours? The foundation also has yummy ingredients like raspberry, apple, and watermelon extracts that helps smooth and improve the look of your skin. It blends like a dream and doesn’t look cakey or streaky and doesn’t crease. It also has a pump making application a breeze and mess-free. It’s paraben free, alcohol-free, sulfate-free and oil-free. For a well-established cosmetics brand, I was expecting them to have a better shade range, they currently have 34 shades- not terrible but also not the best. While it’s the most expensive of the 4 listed, I think it’s worth it and lasts a long time especially if you only use it for special events or days that you know are going to longgg. (I wear the shade “Vienna”)

Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation SPF 15, $39

Last but not least is the Amazonian Clay Foundation! The texture is my favorite- it has a whipped mousse texture, making it featherweight, and super soft and smooth. The unique formula gives you a stunning airbrushed effect and offers full coverage. It also minimizes the look of my pores and has a more natural matte finished compared to the other foundations listed. While, they say that it lasts 12 hours, it doesn’t last that long on for me, maybe because of my dry/oily skin type. There’s also beneficial ingredients like Amazonian clay that provides longer wear, vitamin E that acts an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant and mineral pigments that soothe and softens your skin. Some bonus points are that it has it’s cruelty free, vegan, oil-free, and free of parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, triclosan, sodium lauryl sulfate and gluten. It’s also super travel friendly since the packaging is lightweight, shatterproof and slim. (I wear the shade “Light-Medium Neutral”)

That’s it for today folks! I hope you found this helpful. If you decide to give any of these foundations a try, let me know how they worked for you! Have your own personal foundation faves? Share ’em below in the comment section! 🙂

Let’s Bloom Together!

If you read my “About” page you’ll know exactly what I mean by my title, if not go check it out! I love nothing more than the beauty of people supporting one another and that’s exactly what I want to do. In order for us to be kind to our fullest potential, we must first be kind to ourselves! I’m not saying to be selfish but typically people who are happy with themselves are more inclined to be kind to others. So be kind to yourself! Self-care is so important: eating healthy, working out, skincare routines, and just making yourself feel pretty. That’s what this blog is all about! Let’s help one another live a healthy lifestyle, spread kindness, boost internal beauty while also helping improve confidence by discovering health and beauty trends, remedies, secrets, and more!

You’re probably thinking to yourself “this girl’s blog is kind of all over the place”. Yup! Cause it is, life is inconsistent, I am inconsistent, we are all inconsistent but I promise you this: my blog will be consistently inconsistent meaning that I’ll post about all this fun stuff regularly! The main purpose of the my blog is to make you feel your best! You’ll mainly see some beauty, health, skincare, foodie, and lifestyle posts! Trust me, it’s going to be a good time.

We’re all just here to bloom together aren’t we? I’m no expert here but I have a little bit of experience in each topic! My professional experiences have helped sculpt my values and interests. My very first job was when I was 16 years old working at Keva Juice, this was when I fell in love with smoothies and juicing and when I realized how important fueling your body with healthy ingredients is. I later worked at a high-end fashion retailer called BCBG. I loved giving advice, putting outfits together and watching customers’ reactions. I loved seeing a boost in their confidence by simply changing their outfit. This is when I was like “hey I like making people feel good in their own skin”. After that I worked as CustomInk, this company has literally the best values and culture. Something that truly blew my mind and still does to this day. They spread love and kindness internally (in the office) and externally (to the community). They have an amazing volunteer program and donate a ton to the community. To this day, I carry the same values as they do and want to continue spreading the love. I’m currently working for a beauty company called J.Cat Beauty where I grew a passion for the beauty industry. The beauty industry is so much more than just makeup! I’ve learned a ton of makeup and skincare tips and tricks and can’t wait to share them with you. I love seeing results, sharing stories, and watching us all grow together. This is all so fun and positive- I love it and I hope you do too!
